Right now…
I’m listening to Joe Biden’s acceptance speech.
Antonio is wrangling the boys upstairs. I can imagine the cat jumping from one chair to the next, Jaxon and Dan taking care of chores while they gab incessantly about whatever topic most interests them. The greatest thing about their conversations is that they can go on and on about separate topics to each other and still feel utterly heard. These two brothers are so connected.
Antonio will wrangle for a while, then he will crash into the bed because their energy is exhausting. As parents, we basically direct them and encourage them. They are like buzzing bees or bumper cars, always going, always needing to be steered in one direction or another. They’re larger than they were. We have to continually remind them that we have a downstairs neighbor and that they need to walk softly.
I’m here in the office. I’m making to-do lists, listening to speeches, writing in the blog, and messaging friends. It’s morning. My mind is alert and ready to sift through the tasks of the day!
I want to focus on the speech. Friends I respect are lauding it. I need to find out why.
