Every time I sit down to write, I change gears and find something else to do because I have too many things I don’t want to write.
I don’t want to write about politics. I don’t want to write about therapy. I don’t want to write about family, or money, or work, or theatre.
And I’m left wondering what I can write about.
But after pondering, and realizing that I really should write SOMETHING… some lovely thoughts are flitting about in my mind.
I would like to write about my cat Shadow!

I have never liked cats. Ever. They are pushy, mean, and they have claws. Also, I’m allergic.
Shadow is different though. Shadow is pushy, mean, and he has claws. But he loves me soooo much! Last night, I sat on the couch, and he settled into the crook of my neck and gave me scratchy little kisses on my cheek.

My favorite moment was when Antonio first met Shadow. We stopped the car in front of my mother in law’s house. Antonio got out of her car and we took the new kitty to him. His eyes lit up and grabbed the tiny kitten, pulled him into his chest and said, “He lives here now.”
This photo illustrates their connection best.

Look at that fierce little face. Truly, he found his home in the arms of my dear Antonio.
Even though we know he loves me best, he really is Dan’s kitty. Dan chose him. Dan named him. And Dan cleans his litter box.
These two are the best of friends.

This little kitty has helped us survive the isolation of Covid19. He’s been a cuddly little distraction for all of us. He makes staying home and being home a delight. His little meows are so sweet. His paws are so soft and velvety, and then he’ll surprise you with a pounce and a scratch! No warning! It’s a great distraction from politics and internet arguments. Who cares what politicians are lying about? There’s a cat ready to claw your face off!
So that’s the first thing I am going to talk about in my efforts to avoid topics I don’t want to talk about.
