Covid makes planning a Christmas program difficult. I was limited to two musical numbers. I would do a solo, and I asked a mother and son to play a duet on the piano. The important part was picking the right song. I don’t remember ever deciding. I just knew the song. I searched for arrangementsContinue reading “The Right Song”

Crowded Table
This week Governor Gary Herbert told the people in Utah we have to limit our contact to people within our household. And since Thanksgiving is coming up soon, I’ve been thinking about how I feel about this. I have been listening to the Highwomen’s song “Crowded Table” on repeat lately. You can hold my hand,Continue reading “Crowded Table”
The Echo Chamber
I bet you were dying to read about politics. (insert groans and laugh track) I have so many thoughts and opinions. I also feel a reverence for the power of words. I can’t just say anything that floats my fancy. On the book of many faces, I have carefully chosen to exchange ideas with friendsContinue reading “The Echo Chamber”
What Does It Mean To Feel Good?
Thursday. I went to therapy today. I feel good. I feel good BECAUSE of therapy. I felt myself healing in the sessions, and in the time between sessions. Today was odd because I babbled on about one topic after another. The therapist laughed with me and we just danced from one topic to the other.Continue reading “What Does It Mean To Feel Good?”
Things I Don’t Want to Talk About. Part 3. Great TV!

Depression is such a weird trick. It’s almost like someone put a spell on you. I find myself staring at the table while life whirls around me. In the midst of my trance, the cat will bite my leg, Antonio will try and get me to look up, Dan will ask for avocado toast… AndContinue reading “Funktion”
8/21/20
Right now… I’m listening to Joe Biden’s acceptance speech. Antonio is wrangling the boys upstairs. I can imagine the cat jumping from one chair to the next, Jaxon and Dan taking care of chores while they gab incessantly about whatever topic most interests them. The greatest thing about their conversations is that they can goContinue reading “8/21/20”
A Song of Ice and Ice
Two brothers. Stand on a precipice. A wilderness of ice and snow before them. They command the western wastelands of ice and snow. They last about 5 minutes before proclaiming that their fingers are frozen. And we go to another park. Where the temperature is literally 20 degrees warmer. Weird. Utah is weird.
New Shoes
Dan has been growing so fast! Look at these shoes! Hahaha! I crack myself up. But seriously… Remember when Dan rode his bike to church? According to Google Maps–we live 1.2 miles from the church building. This is what he looked like after riding his bike those 1.2 miles. On Monday, Dan was determined toContinue reading “New Shoes”
