I’m sitting in the quiet empty lobby on opening night. The theatre is crowded, backstage is crowded, but I’ve found a peaceful place to just sit for a moment.

I’m a Bitch
(This post contains language unsuitable for anyone who doesn’t like the word bitch.) (Sorry. When you read it, pretend like I wrote b$#tch instead.) When I was 16, I played Mrs. McGlone in The Unsinkable Molly Brown at the Stage Stop Theatre. Michael Bahr directed me. I was the mean lady who didn’t like MollyContinue reading “I’m a Bitch”
The Boxer
Once upon a time, I was at a rehearsal for a show. At this rehearsal, I expected to find my cast mates hard at work building the stage. Instead, I discovered that the show Carousel was headed in a whole different direction. It’s going to be incredible. Carousel–the story of a young fighter–looking for inspirationContinue reading “The Boxer”
Allergies
To quote John Cusack in High Fidelity…. Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?” I’m feeling my own brand of exhausted/miserable right now. And so I haven’t made time to express gratitude or enjoy spiritual things. And because of that, I’m exhausted and miserable. And so I haven’t made time toContinue reading “Allergies”
The People of Storage
Everyday, I meet new people coming to Salt Lake City for a variety of reasons. These gentleman are here to play for the University of Utah Football team this fall. Michael Blackwood, Wide Receiver-Tanqueray Towns, and Receiver Geoff Norwood Mike Sorensen at the Deseret News wrote a glowing article about Geoff Norwood last year. They’reContinue reading “The People of Storage”

Do you recognize this painting? If you watched this episode, you might. (It’s just a tribute–for the real thing go to Netflix and watch Doctor Who: Vincent and the Doctor.) I was at my grandma’s on Saturday and she gave me three paintings. The church with the monster in the window. This one: (I tookContinue reading “Vincent Van Gogh”
Three Gifts
When I was 14, I went to a teenage church camp called, “Especially For Youth” and reveled in being in the company of other faith focused teenagers. Even then, I was a little overwhelmed by the cheesiness, but there were really special moments where I felt God’s love. And at 14, I needed it. ThereContinue reading “Three Gifts”
That Fun Time in Rehearsals Where I Get Super Nervous
Today was our first day in the space at the Murray Theatre. When I get into the space, I think of all the things that could go wrong. I think of all the time we don’t have. I think about how I want to make every moment count. And I beat myself up when IContinue reading “That Fun Time in Rehearsals Where I Get Super Nervous”
Time and Space, Religious Relativity, and Why I Believe.
I hate starting a post with the end in mind, but that’s what I’m going to do today. The end is this.. I am an active and believing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am not stupid, brainwashed, asexual, naive, or afraid. If you have decided that you no longerContinue reading “Time and Space, Religious Relativity, and Why I Believe.”
Newsroom
I know it’s a bit long, but if you have a moment, it’s great writing. And I captures my political leanings. Not that you care all that much, because you have your own leanings, and good! I’m glad! We’re a freethinking society and I love your freethinking ways. Today, I’m grateful for this television show.Continue reading “Newsroom”
