Divorce is hard. It is lonely, stressful, and you feel like no one in the world will understand you. When my parents divorced, my mom had one friend who understood. They were both young junior high teachers with young kids and they were both looking at life through the lens of divorce. This was almostContinue reading “Linda”

Matthew
Once upon a time… I lived in this little blue condo. Matthew wasn’t born in this house. He was born in the white house in Salina. But I don’t have a picture of the white house in Salina. We LIVED in this house. It’s not completely random. This is the house where Matthew tried toContinue reading “Matthew”
The Beauties of Mother’s Day
Today I spent the day with my mother and the evening with my mother’s mother. They’re both pretty stellar women. I took this picture of my mom watering her flowers on the front porch. There’s nothing like springtime in Utah. My brother Nick and I had a great visit with our grandma tonight and after,Continue reading “The Beauties of Mother’s Day”
My Throne
From my throne in the sound booth, I mainly listen. I listen for full harmonies. I listen for balanced sound. I listen. I don’t often get to watch. So at this earlier stage in rehearsals, I enjoy taking a moment to watch because it’s not as important to just listen as it is later whenContinue reading “My Throne”
A Dear Friend
Last night I got to visit with my dear friend Heather. I’ve known Heather since high school. She is a complicated, authentic, sincere, and beautiful person. Her complexity is mysterious. She just isn’t the kind of person to simplify her own thoughts to fit the mainstream. She is spiritual at her core. Nothing about whatContinue reading “A Dear Friend”
Avoiding
Today is an odd day. I slept straight through the night. Like the dead. I woke up completely refreshed. I am supposed to be memorizing my script for an upcoming film I’m doing. To avoid memorizing the script… I created several photo collages. I put Elmer’s Glue on my face and gave myself a cheapContinue reading “Avoiding”
Utah Photoscapes
While living in Staunton, VA–during my grad school years–I used to take pictures of the beautiful state of Virginia. I would then print the pictures and make stationery with the pictures that I sold in a local card shop. My mother loved those cards. For Mother’s Day, she asked me to give her more cards.Continue reading “Utah Photoscapes”
Poo, Privileges, Pictures, Palliteration
Today has been a poo day. I don’t use this term lightly. Poo is serious stuff. Especially when you find it in the elevator and have to scrub it up. That’s right. So how do I twist that into a gratitude post? ha ha.. Not. gonna. happen. In my need for authenticity, I refuse toContinue reading “Poo, Privileges, Pictures, Palliteration”
A Behanding in Utah
About three years ago, I got the chance to see Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell star in A Behanding in Spokane. Watching the show in NYC, I was more starstruck than anything. Last night, I got to see the play again in Salt Lake City. This time, I was able to process the work itself,Continue reading “A Behanding in Utah”
The Canyon
It’s springtime in Utah. Today I went to Millcreek Canyon with my friend Travis. He told me stories that reminded me of the magic of human beings. While he shared, I took pictures. In case you weren’t aware before–Utah is a wonderful place. Today I am grateful for Travis and the Canyon.
