I’m feeling very thoughtful today. My brain is dashing from one thought to another. There are connections and revelations and epiphanies colliding in my mind. Normally, I lay everything out and then allow the words to fall into a pattern or a conclusion. Perhaps that will work today. Perhaps not. We had a racist, hatefulContinue reading “Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church Shooting”

Learning how to Scoot
Daniel got a scooter from his grandma. He’s been practicing on his scooter every day. And every day he gets better and better. He is bruised all over from the falls. But I’m really proud of him, because he hops right back up. He is a determined child. After one particular fall, he needed aContinue reading “Learning how to Scoot”
Feeling Like Poo
Lately, I have felt poopy. Just tired and hot and allergic to the sweet flowers and grass. I love my family and my dog and my life. But there’s this thing about every day consistency. You really can’t get behind. It all piles up and you just have to keep up with it. I feelContinue reading “Feeling Like Poo”
Early Morning Walk About
I meant to sleep in until 7:30am. (Can we pause for a moment and let the irony of that statement sink in a bit? Sleep in… until… 7:30am….. Yup.) But I woke up at 6:45am feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed. Not sure why. I think it was spending the day outside in the sunshineContinue reading “Early Morning Walk About”

Graduation and Field Day!
We had field day yesterday. Field day is where teachers watch while parents organize a “fun” day outside with water and popsicles for 2 hours. The kindergartners run from station to station. Each station is a different water game. Our station was called Drip, Drip, Drop. It was a watery version of Duck Duck Goose.Continue reading “Graduation and Field Day!”
Thank you Teachers!
Daniel is finishing kindergarten this week. His grandma had a wonderful idea to give his teachers a little pot with seeds and a cute poem. She came over Monday night and helped Daniel to paint the pots. After painting the pots, she painted Daniel! He made a beautiful hat and she fitted it perfectly toContinue reading “Thank you Teachers!”
A Six-Year Old Discusses Making Babies and the Importance of Nutrition
I made a teensie weensie mistake. I have been doing theatre and improv for a very long time. You guys know this. So what’s the first rule of improv? Say yes!! As we were driving over to Grandma’s house, Antonio was trying to talk to Daniel about Lord of The Rings. Daniel said, “That isContinue reading “A Six-Year Old Discusses Making Babies and the Importance of Nutrition”
First Memorial Day. Spectacularly Busy Weekend.
For those of you who suffer from the ups and downs of depression–you get it. You know that you make it work on those days where you’ve got energy, because the energy will end and you’ll crash. This weekend–I crashed. I crashed because I needed to. I can’t help it. I go go go whenContinue reading “First Memorial Day. Spectacularly Busy Weekend.”
